Giving

Our Lady of Fatima Parish School is a unique neighborhood school offering an exceptional, well-rounded Catholic education that prepares students for a lifetime of success.

Like most parochial schools, our school holds tuition at a level that makes it as affordable as possible for parish families. This makes us dependent upon the generosity of our school families, parishioners, and alumni to help cover our actual operating costs. Our school organizes several larger annual fundraising events, as well as additional activities and opportunities throughout the year. Long-term giving opportunities via estate planning are also available.

A general overview of a typical year of giving opportunities is outlined below. More information about our larger efforts, such as the Endowment Fund and Auction, and other year-round fundraising efforts, such as Community Rewards and Scrip gift cards, can be found using the tabs below.

September: Fun Run; Fall Festival

October: 6th Grade Wreath Sale to fund Environmental Education Camp

January: Annual Endowment Fund appeal

March: Tuition Contracts due; Sign up for Parent Partnerships for the coming year

April: School Auction, our largest fundraiser (school family Auction donation items or cash-outs due prior to the event)

May: Parent volunteer commitment hours due May 15; Parent Partnerships for the ending school year due May 31

July: Parent Partnership payments for the coming school year may be made beginning July 1

Our Lady of Fatima Parish School is a 501(c)3, K-8 school, Federal Tax ID 91-06-04880.

Parent Partnership

Central to our school’s mission is the belief that our faculty and staff partner with our families in educating their children. The Parent Partnership Program is our annual financial initiative that affirms this belief.

This program is critical for two reasons:

  • First, it goes directly to supporting the operational vitality of our school. It allows us to enhance our curriculum, keep our lights on, and recruit and retain the best faculty and staff.
  • Second, it is designed to allow us to maintain lower tuition because the funds raised through this program offset the difference between tuition and the actual cost to educate a child at Our Lady of Fatima Parish School.

The OLF Parent Partnership Program is a tax-deductible opportunity for parents and other family members to give above and beyond tuition for the good of the school. Partnership donations go directly to the school’s operating budget.

Every family is encouraged to participate in the Parent Partnership Program. Families are asked to consider giving at the level at which they feel comfortable, and payment options are flexible. We ask that partnership commitments be fulfilled by May 31 each year, so gifts may be accounted for by the end of the fiscal year.

Employer Matching

Our Lady of Fatima Parish School is a 501(c)3, K-8 school, Federal Tax ID 91-06-04880. As such, many corporations will match gifts given for the benefit of the school. Recent matches have been made by Boeing, Microsoft, The Gates Foundation, Starbucks, Weyerhaeuser, Bank of America, Merck, Schwab, Pfizer, and others.

Please check with your employer’s matching policy when considering a gift to Fatima (most employers will not match funds to the parish, only to the school).

Memorial Gifts

Persons or family members may select our school as the recipient of memorial gifts. Those on whose behalf the gifts are designated have their name placed on the school’s Memorial Plaque and are remembered at every student Mass.

Endowment Fund

Established in 1988, our school is fortunate to have an Endowment Fund, which currently stands at just over $2 million.

Our Endowment Fund is invested for us by the Fulcrum Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle. As a permanent trust, the school only utilizes a certain percentage of interest gained each year. Currently, the Endowment Fund composes about 5% of the yearly operating budget.

Donations are made each year during the Annual School Appeal and through Memorial Gifts. Gifts of stocks or securities also can be made to the Endowment Fund, as can remembrances in your will. Please consult your financial adviser for information specific to your plans.

Fall Festival

The Fatima Fall Festival is a long-standing neighborhood tradition that draws attendees from across the Magnolia community and beyond. It traditionally takes place on a Saturday evening during the last weekend of September or the first weekend of October. The Festival takes on a new theme each year and offers a combination of entertainment, food, carnival rides, games, and the ever-popular cake walk. All activities are supported by a team of creative and enthusiastic parent volunteers.

Annual Auction

The Our Lady of Fatima Auction is an annual spring event and the largest fundraiser of the year, making it the most significant contributor to the school’s operating budget. The auction is sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Club and is supported by parents, students, staff, and the broader Seattle community.

With a new creative theme each year, the auction provides numerous fun volunteer opportunities for families to collaborate and work together in support of the common goal of helping the school and all its students.

The format for the evening typically takes a traditional auction format, including a live and silent auction, dinner, music, dancing, and other entertainment.

In addition to raising funds for Fatima, attendees “raise the paddle” to support another school in need.

Community Rewards Programs

We have a number of Community Contribution Programs that enable you to help our school financially while you simply ‘shop as usual.’

Amazon Smile
You can link your Amazon account to AmazonSmile, and select Our Lady of Fatima Parish as the charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases. (Note: The donations go to the parish, not the school for AmazonSmile.) Tens of millions of products are eligible for donations, and Amazon will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases. Sign up at smile.amazon.com.

Box Tops for Education

Download the Box Tops app from Google Play or the App Store, create an account, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts. The app will find participating products on the receipt from any store and automatically credit our school’s Box Tops earnings online (participating brands have a Box Top label on the package). Box Tops are worth 10¢ each for our school. Visit boxtops4education.com for more information. For questions, contact the committee chair listed on the PTC page.

If you discover a traditional Box Tops clip on a product, you can still clip it and send it to school. Every valid Box Tops clip is still worth 10¢ for our school. Make sure each one you turn in has a clearly visible product acronym and expiration date. You can collect your traditional Box Tops on this Box Tops collection sheet.

* All valid Box Tops clips submitted per the Program Rules to an eligible, enrolled school(s) will be honored.

Fred Meyer Community Rewards

Simply order gift cards for the retailers where you already shop, such as Starbucks, your favorite grocery store, gas station, movie theater, etc. Each retailer enrolled in the program donates a percentage of your order amount back to the school.

You can use our online form, located here, to place your order.

To shop directly, go to the RaiseRight website and use our enrollment code, 8AEB87FD7L63when you setup your account. It’s convenient, fast and easy!
