It's That Time of the Month!
This week you can order gift cards as part of the Fatima SCRIP program. It's the only PTC-sponsored fundraiser of the year and a great way to earn money for Fatima and stock up on gift cards for grocery shopping, Starbucks runs, or even gifts for friends and family. Look for the order form in this week's packet or download it from the PTC website (see link under PTC resources). The order form is due in the office Friday and the cards will be delivered the following Thursday (what service!). Thanks to Lisa Gustaveson for spearheading this effort and the many volunteers who help make it happen!!

The Subject is MATH!
Was math your least favorite subject? Is it your child's? Did you receive the support and encouragement you needed to succeed? What resources are available to help your child?
If you found math a challenge, you are not alone. Math is a subject that most American students have struggled with for at least the last two decades. According to the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress, only 50% of fourth graders score proficient in math (and only 7% are advanced). The news isn't much better for our eighth graders: 35% of American fourth graders score proficient in math (and only 8% are advanced).
How do the students at Fatima compare? And what are we doing (and can we do) as a school community to ensure that our children have the support to gain the math skills they need to build a strong foundation for future academic success?
Join us Wednesday night to find out!

Plan Now to Stock up on OLF Gift Cards!
Gift cards continue to be the PTC's primary fundraiser during this 2011-12 school year. The good news is that nearly half of all Fatima families have joined in the fundraising and we've raised thousands of dollars to date. And all by just shopping at the supermarkets, coffee shops and retailers where we usually shop - just with gift cards!
We are excited to continue this fundraiser for the remainder of the school year, and have published a calendar to help you plan your purchases ahead of time.
Additionally, we are always in need of volunteers to help us fill orders. Let us know if you are interested in volunteering. It's a great way to earn volunteer hours outside of the school day!

What is the Parent Teacher Club? All of you! All parents and teachers have a voice. The leadership team, committee chairs, and all of you work together.
The Parent-Teacher Club (PTC) is responsible for maintaining good communication between the home and school. It is a vehicle by which parents can provide service and support to the school through volunteering and fundraising. The purposes of the Parent-Teacher Club are:
- To provide information to parents about the school, PTC activities, volunteer opportunities, and the OLF School Commission.
- To enhance school programs and to provide extras, such as author visits, educational opportunities, field day, and more
- To support faculty and staff efforts by contributing to homeroom and enrichment program funds and teacher appreciation activities.
- To provide community building activities for parents, teachers, and administration.
- To support our school financially through fundraising activities.
