I have been in education for 27 years, 10 of which were spent in Toronto, Canada, and the past 17 in Seattle, mostly in Catholic schools. I have taught 1st through 7th grades. My greatest joy in teaching is seeing students grow over the course of each year. I love to help students develop multiple ways to approach new concepts and different ways to express their learning. I am particularly interested in the current discoveries in brain research and how their new understandings impact educational practices.
This year, I am excited to draw on my education and experience to work with teachers to reach all math learners. I love making connections across curriculum areas, tying in technology and science with math and language.
Outside of the classroom, I helped develop the Nickelodeon Parent/Teacher Homework Help Portal, putting resources within reach to support students in math. I enjoy being outdoors, too, and look forward to time every summer spent trout fishing and backpacking, especially in the Sierra Nevadas.
