Faculty and staff are grateful for the time volunteers spend at Our Lady of Fatima Parish School!
Volunteering brings many benefits to the school and parents. It builds and fosters a strong sense of community, reduces costs, and distributes the workload. Parents gain a sense of the learning environment, get to know the students and teachers, and observe the values instilled in the students.
Parent volunteer hours are tracked May 1 through May 1 each year. Each K-8 family commits to volunteer a minimum of 30 hours per year to the school and parish, eight of which must be dedicated to fundraising at the Fall Festival and/or the Auction. Preschool/Pre-K families without older children in the school commit to volunteer 15 volunteer hours to the school and parish, four of which must be dedicated to the Fall Festival and/or Auction fundraising events. Volunteer hours are tracked on the blue, Volunteer Commitment Hours Summary form and turned in each year on May 1.
All volunteers are required to complete a background check every three years and attend a Seattle Archdiocese Safe Environment Program class. Please refer to the Parents/Forms page for information on background checks and Safe Environment.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year including classroom help, field trip driving, preparing for and working at events, coaching CYO sports, helping with snow sports, serving as an after school program parent coordinator or supervisor, and working on various committees through the Parent Teacher Club and School Commission. Information about volunteer opportunities can be found in the weekly school newsletter, or ask your teachers and room parents if they need help. Time spent volunteering at OLF Parish also counts toward school volunteer hours.
